Usagi Drop - Yumi Unita
Just read through the 54 chapters of manga today. The story takes a different perspective and route in terms of family norms, values, structure etc. As usual the hook for me are the non-generic characters for this genre (I guess character development is a must in this field).
In sum, 30yr old Daikichi takes up his dead grandpa’s illegitimate 6 yr old daughter Rin (which makes Rin his aunt) because everyone else in his family are jerks. Adorable, funny, and cute for the most part of the beginning chapters. Then a time skip happens and gets pretty exciting but suddenly takes a surprising, some would say “controversial” 180 within the last 7 or so chapters. I don’t really know what to say. I can’t really critique these all too well since I’m new when it comes to reading dramangas or in this case my first josei manga (nor should one take this post as a critique at all, because I am not one haha)
Anyway, two more chapters left. I really, really like the characters. Nothing too tragic for the Dai and Rin please.
